This September, come and have a go yourself.

Händel’s Messiah is our next concert, and to give everyone the chance to have a go we’re holding two open rehearsals on Tuesday 8 and Tuesday 15 September 2026, from 7.30 to 9.30pm at Holy Trinity Primary School, Cecil St, Bury BL9 0SB. Sit in, sing through the great choruses, and experience what it’s like to make this music as part of a choir.

Bury Choral Society welcomes singers from Bury, Manchester, Prestwich, Whitefield, Radcliffe, Rochdale, Bolton and across Greater Manchester.

Who it's for?

Singers who already know the joy of choral music

  • Some choral experience preferred — confident readers and former choir members especially welcome.
  • 16+, all voice parts. SATB.
  • This isn’t an audition. Sit in, sing along, see how it feels.
  • Bring Your own vocal score of Messiah if you have one. Loan copies will be available.
  • Cost: Free to attend.

No. The open rehearsals are exactly that — open. You sit in and sing along.

If you already own a Messiah vocal score, please bring it. We'll have loan copies for anyone who doesn't.

That's fine — come to whichever evening (or both) suits you.

There is no charge to attend the open rehearsals. We'll let you know if there's a small refreshment contribution.

There is parking on site and we are just 5 minutes walk from the bus and Metrolink station.
