Our popular Singing Day returns! A full day of rehearsing and performing choral music spanning centuries — from Renaissance devotion to contemporary expression. Everyone welcome.
Bury Choral Society's Singing Day is one of the highlights of our year — a chance for singers from across Greater Manchester (and beyond) to come together, learn new music, and share the joy of choral singing.
Whether you're a seasoned choir member, a former singer looking to get back into it, or someone who simply loves singing and wonders what it would be like to do it with a room full of others — this day is for you.
Last time we held a Singing Day, the theme was A Musical Tour — a journey through 400 years of choral music from Byrd to Skellern. This year, we're exploring Music from Different Times, tracing the thread of choral singing across the centuries.
The Day at a Glance
- 9:30 am — Registration and welcome
- 10:00 am — First rehearsal session
- 12:30 pm — Lunch break (bring your own or order on the day)
- 1:15 pm — Afternoon rehearsal session
- 3:30 pm — Break
- 4:00 pm — Short performance (free admission — invite friends and family!)

Who Is It For?
- All voice parts (SATB)
- 16 years and over
- Some choral experience is helpful but not essential
- If you can hold a tune and enjoy singing, you'll be welcome
